FITNESS TIPS-SNORING-WHAT AND PREVENTIVE TIPS

Snoring
The only advantage of snoring  is,in your household, you are the only one to get a lot more sleep than anyone. This is because others, who can hear you, are denied their share of sleep by your snoring. This is selfish by any standard.

Try the following preventative measures, so that others are happy that you are not snoring.

1 Drugs such as sleeping pills and sedatives are  known to make snoring worse,so consult your doctor and  take alternative ones. Also avoid things that make snoring worse, apart from the two mentioned, they are alcohol, coffee and rich foods before bedtime.

Head raise
2 If you are accustomed to sleep on your back, you can add a few extra pillows to raise your head in bed.Avoid sleeping on your back, since in that position, your tongue and soft palate rest against the back of your throat, blocking the airway. You can raise the head of your bed.

3 Sleep on your side.

4 If you have any nasal congestion, try taking a decongestant or antihistamine.

5 Change your sheets and pillowcases often to alleviate bedroom allergens, and vacuum your floors and curtains very often.

6 Use nasal strips, available at pharmacies. They work by lifting and opening your nostrils to increase airflow.

7 Use mandibular advancement splints. These  prevent the soft throat tissues from collapsing and obstructing the airway.

If you have a Sinus Infection the mucus blocks the nasal passages, thereby causing Snoring.

Tips to Follow

1.Do not forget to take the drugs prescribed by your doctor for curing the sinus infection. Reduction of the infection will bring down snoring.

2.Use a sinus/nasal rinse. Rinsing will help in relieving the snoring.

3.Use a nasal dilator strip on your nose channel. This will open the nostrils and can prevent snoring.

4.While sleeping keep your head above your chest level,it will help in reducing the amount of mucus draining and blocking your nasal passages. When your nasal passage is clear you will not snore.
